How to send money with YAP®

To send money to other OneSmart Accountholders who have also registered with YAP, follow the steps below.

How to send money with YAP - Step 1.
1. Send a text to 927.
When composing the text, specify the New Zealand Dollar amount, e.g. 100 followed by a 'space' and the person's mobile number you are sending the money to.

In this example, a user named John is sending $100.00 NZD to mobile 027 123 1234.

2. YAP will send you a text to confirm your payment.
Reply by entering your 5 digit YAP PIN to confirm the transaction.

YAP will send you another text to let you know your money was sent.


How to receive money with YAP

How to receive money with YAP?
The money from the sender will go directly into the recipients OneSmart Account. YAP will send a confirmation text to both the sender and recipient.

1. Text BAL to 927.

2. YAP will reply to your BAL request.
To help keep your information secure we recommend that you delete the text message after reading it.


How to check your last YAP transaction

1. Text the word LAST IN to 927,
if you want to know the last YAP transaction received. Text LAST OUT to 927 if you want to know the last YAP transaction sent.

2. YAP will reply to your last transaction request.
To keep your information secure we suggest you delete the text message after reading it.


How to freeze the YAP functions in your mobile phone

If for any reason, you wanted to temporarily disable the YAP functions within your phone, you can do so by ‘freezing it’. There is no cost to do so. This is just another way YAP helps keep your money secure. Keep in mind, this will not affect the other functions of your OneSmart Account.

Freezing YAP does NOT freeze your OneSmart Account, it only temporarily disables the YAP functions on your mobile phone.

1. Text the word UNFREEZE to 927.

To help keep your OneSmart Account secure you will need to confirm with your 5 digit YAP PIN.

3. YAP unfreezes the YAP functions on your mobile phone.


Transaction Alerts

Keep informed of activity through email or mobile alerts. You can opt-in to have a text or email sent to you every time your OneSmart Account is used. This allows you to closely monitor your spending in real time so you'll always know your current balance. Login to your OneSmart Account or phone 0800 ONESMART to set up your mobile alerts.

Mobile Alerts offers

  • Added account security and peace of mind - be alerted when transactions are made
  • Regular updates of your OneSmart Account and foreign currency wallet balances - know exactly how much you can spend
  • Alerts for when your balance is getting low - time to reload your account

As alerts will return your foreign currency wallet balance, if you notice it is getting low, it's a great reminder to reload funds or move money between your wallets.

Note: Text message charges (domestic and international) from you mobile phone service provider will apply.  YAP Services is available with all mobile operators in New Zealand.
