Air New Zealand and the Cook Islands government are pleased to announce that a weekly direct service will operate between Sydney and the Cook Islands from July.
Agreement has been reached between the two parties to extend the operation of this service from a seasonal schedule to a year-round service through until March 2014.
Flights will operate once a week from 4 July from Rarotonga to Sydney, initially departing on a Tuesday from Sydney and a Monday from Rarotonga. The service will be operated by a 234 seat Boeing 767-300 with a configuration of 210 economy and 24 business class seats.
Flight time for the journey is six hours from Sydney and seven hours 15 minutes from Rarotonga.
Air New Zealand's General Manager, Australia, Cam Wallace welcomed the agreement saying "We have long been committed to the Cook Islands as a destination and it gives us great pleasure to see this partnership strengthened and extended to direct flights from Sydney on a year-round basis from July next year. We will continue to work with the Cook Islands Government and local tourism leaders to grow visitor numbers."
