Policies to Purchase with Your Flight - Australia Travel Insurance

If you're travelling to Australia this is a no-hassle policy that we add to your booking when you purchase flights online.

How to purchase

For your convenience and peace of mind we add this recommended travel insurance into your booking when you purchase flights online. The total insurance cost will be charged to your credit card. If you already have travel insurance or the policy is not suitable, simply choose 'No thanks' in the Travel Insurance section below each passenger's details when you are making your booking. This insurance cannot be paid for with Airpoints Dollars™, and will not earn Airpoints Dollars. This policy must be purchased at the time of booking, and cannot be added at a later date.

Children booked with you on child fares are also covered at no extra cost. If you're making a return journey, you will be covered for the period between your flights. If you are making a one-way journey, the cover is for a maximum of 31 days from the date of departure.

Your policy covers

  • Medical costs (Unlimited, including existing medical conditions)
  • Personal liability (up to $1,000,000)
  • Lost/stolen baggage (up to $10,000 - maximum $1,000 per piece)
  • Rental vehicle excess (up to $3,000)
  • Cancellation costs (up to $20,000), covers unforeseen circumstances only
  • Delays (up to $1,000)
  • Additional expenses (up to $20,000)

Please note a fixed excess of $50 applies to each claimable event.

Your policy is valid from the time you leave home until you return to your normal place of residence. If you change the itinerary before you depart you can change your policy, so long as you have not and will not make any claim under the policy to do with this change. However, you can't change it once your journey has started. If Air New Zealand changes its schedule, or a flight is delayed, your policy is extended automatically.
