View the magnificent Sperm whale in their natural environment.
Only from the air do you get to appreciate the full size of the mighty sperm whale.
You also get the chance to see dusky dolphins and other marine life on your flight.
After we have found whales we will take you on a scenic flight of Kaikoura and the stunning surrounds that include the high Alpine snow clad Kaikoura mountains, and to the east the deep blue Pacific ocean.
Air Kaikoura is a small friendly business which also provides flight training and all our pilots are flight instructors.
Our team is enthusiastic about providing our customers with a magical experience of a life time.
No guarantees are possible but we have a very high success rate of 95% and are very honest about the chances of finding whales. By booking one of our extended whale flights with us your chances go up dramatically....!
Flight time 40 minutes. You need to allow 1.5 hours total
Our aircraft takes a maximum of six passengers, this makes it exciting and fun.
Conditions. - flights are weather dependent and at the pilots discretion.
Minimum numbers may apply on occasion. Flight confirmed with two passengers, smaller bookings may be wait listed to confirm.

Super schön
Wir hatten unglaublich tolles Wetter. Der Flug war so ein absolutes Highlight. Die crew welche nuur aus 2 Leuten bestand da die anderen krank waren- waren unglaublich! Freundlich und geduldig. Trotz fehlenden Teammitgliedern haben die beiden einen super Service am Gast bewiesen und einen mit Ihrer Freude angesteckt! Top! Der Flug war wunderbar und die Scenerie die sich einem von oben bietet ist atemberaubend! Einfach schön. Wir waren auch froh nicht in einem überfülltem Boot zu sein und den Wal von oben sehen zu können- in Ruhe...Danke!!!

The Best!
Excellent experience! We got to see two whales swimming next to each other. The staff were lovely and very informative.

Great whale watching experience
We booked the 40 Min extended flight and have not been disappointed. We saw one whale one the surface and as he began to dive. It was really impressive. Afterwards we had a look at a several huge groups of dusky dolphins and made a little scenic flight above the land, as it was not likely to see another whale. The pilot was very professional and he approached the whale quite close and low, so that we could have a good look. Highly recommendable!

Magical experience
Having done the whale waiting by boat in previous years, and now experienced it by plane, I would never do it by boat again. The whole event was fab, from checking in to checking out. The staff were friendly, professional and informative. There were 4 guests in a Piper Cherokee so we each had a window seat. Saw a sperm whale and a large pod of dusky dolphins. Highly recommended

Genialer Flug
Hatten einen super schönen Flug inkl. Pottwal. Pilot ist extra über die tiefe Wolkendecke geflogen, um freie Sicht auf die schneebedeckten Berge zu bekommen. Highly recommended!!!
