Great day on Rotoroa Island

Had a great day on Rotoroa Island 19/2/22. Lucky enough to be there during a Kiwi release -- so up close to a Kiwi! Plenty of birdlife and a couple of nice beaches for a swim. Was initially worried that the time on the island might be excessive but actually plenty to see & ran out of time. Take everything you need for a full day as very limited facilities without any food/ drink available for purchase.

Stunning view

This is probably my favourite motu in Hauraki Gulf. But be aware that the ferry may be cancelled on departing day due to tides. So check before going to the port.

Birds and beaches.

Easy ferry trip out with friendly, helpful staff. I didn’t walk the whole island but did get to five beaches. Good views and plenty of bird life.

Perfect paradise day trip

Quick and easy ferry out to the island. We thought it was going to be a long day with the 3 kids in tow, but such a beautiful island paradise with so much to see and do. Loved reading about the history of the island and felt like we were the only ones there most of the time. Walks were mostly manageable with mountain buggy, and we packed with the steep bits. Highly recommend. Tropical island in Auckland!
