Disappointing visit

Wasn’t sure what to expect but didn’t expect it to be really disappointing - lot of things not open and the things that were open, I was bored out of my mind. Even my 6 year old daughter asked if we could leave early. I will never visit motat again in my life time - cost is definitely overpriced for what you get to see!!!

Kia ora. Sad to hear that MOTAT is not a good fit for your interests. We hope you took a tram ride, saw our exhibitions and interacted with our digital aspects. Our exhibition Love/Science is designed to engage visitors with both the science and the stories behind technology and innovation. Our Aviation Display Hall reopens in July.

Many attractions closed

I contemplated giving this review as I have been to motat many times over the years and really enjoyed it. However on my most recent visit I was sad to find many of the attractions closed - couldnt go in the historical shops nor church, aviation building closed, the old steam train in the middle now a small playground, train carriage also gone and the miniature trains were too closed. I think it would be good to have only a few things closed at a time not so many at once. There used to be lots of fun things for children to explore in the bigger hall area but it was mostly construction type things with giant cardboard :( Hoping this is just temporary with covid restrictions and maintenance as such a shame. The little flick driver however was great as was the main in the print room

Kia ora. Thank you for your review. It is a shame that smaller spaces are closed at present but we are trying to keep as much open as possible, while keeping safety in mind. Thank you for acknowledging our wonderful staff who make MOTAT such a welcoming place.
