Dvořák’s Cello Concerto is one of the most performed cello concertos in the world, and for good reason - it is beautiful. He wrote this glorious concerto when he was living in the United States. Longing for his homeland, he poured his soul into the piece.

Shiyeon Sung, the first woman to win the Sir Georg Solti International Conductors’ Competition, takes the podium in her first appearance with the APO. The programme also includes George Walker’s affecting tribute to his grandmother and Lutosławski’s Concerto, a piece to show off a virtuoso orchestra.
