Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto is delightfully uplifting and one of the most popular and frequently performed violin concertos of all time. This much-loved concerto will be the APO debut of brilliant young musician, New Zealand-born violinist Geneva Lewis.
Poems attributed to the Gaelic warrior-bard Ossian were staples of the early Romantic movement and inspired 23-year-old Niels Gade to write an overture which him famous overnight. Bruckner’s monumental Fourth Symphony is music that evokes German forests, chivalrous deeds and grand heroism.
