This peaceful mountain was transformed into Edoras, the capital city of the Rohan people in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Immerse yourself in the natural unspoilt beauty of this location with it's sparkling clear lakes, glistening blue rivers, rugged mountain ranges and fresh crisp mountain air. You don't have to be a Lord of the Rings fan to enjoy this amazing day out.
The High Country scenery and lakes are simply magnificent!
Duration: 8.5 hours from Christchurch or 5.5 hours from Methven.

Pickup location: Pick up from most central hotels/motels in Christchurch by arrangement from 8.30am or meet us outside Canterbury Museum, Rolleston Avenue at 9.00am. Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior.

Tour nach Mittelerde
Die Tour war einfach toll. Mit dem 6er Allrad ging es los. Auf dem Weg werden verschiedene Dokus über die Entstehung der Herr der Ringe Filme gezeigt. Das überbrückt die lange Fahrt; aber es gibt auch Pausen für Foto Stops. Oben am Gipfel angekommen bot sich ein grandioser Rundumblick auf die Ebene und die Berge die alle frei von Wolken waren. Wer die Filme kennt wird sich sofort nach Edoras versetzt fühlen. In der Ferne ist sogar der Eingang zum Tal von Helms Klam (Helms Deep) zu erkennen. Mit ein paar Fotos ist das ganze nochmal mit den Filmen zu vergleichen. Steve unser Fahrer hat auch viel erzählt; nicht nur zu LOTR auch zu Neuseeland. Lohnt sich...

Super Trip in die Berge
Super Trip mit dem 6WD-Bus in die tolle Landschaft rund um Mount Sunday. Das Wetter spielte leider nicht so mit, so waren die Southern Alps nicht zu sehen. Die Edoras-Filmsite war aber ein super Fleck um sich an die Szenen im Film zu erinnern. Phil, unser Tour-Guide, zeigte uns verschiedene Bilder von den Kulissen und aus dem Film um den Bezug herzustellen. Das Luncheon war super und die Dokumentationen während der Fahrt, verkürzten diese. Alles in Allem ein super Trip der trotz der schlechten Wetterlage sein Geld wert war. Aber wie immer hätte es noch schlimmer kommen können.

Reise nach Mittelerde!
Es war unglaublich - man fühlte sich, als wäre man ganz alleine auf der Welt, weil der Drehort so abgelegen in einem wundervollen Teil der Berge liegt - es war sehr friedvoll! Und die Tatsache, dass hier Edoras erbaut worden war: WOOOOOW! Ich liebe die Mittelerde-Trilogien und kann hier in Neuseeland nie genug von den ganzen Touren bekommen, doch diese Tour hat es mal wieder geschafft, NOCH mehr zu begeistern! Ich durfte in eine traumhafte Landschaft reisen und einen der wichtigsten Drehorte der "Der Herr der Ringe"-Filme besuchen - danke dafür!

Edoras Tour lohnt sich
Wir hatten die Tour am 12.2.2018 gebucht. Es war ein sehr schöner Ausflug ins Reich von Rohan. Unser Guide war Hammond Peek, Oscargewinner für den Soundschnitt für den dritten Herr der Ringe Film. Er hat die Tour sehr toll gestaltet und wir haben viele Hintergrundinformationen erfahren. Jeder Herr der Ringe Fan sollte, wenn er die Zeit dazu hat, sich auf den Weg nach Mt. Sunday machen um den magischen Ort Edoras zu besichtigen. Wir würden die Tour immer wieder buchen und waren wirklich begeistert.
