Linda said... My husband and I did this day trip while in Fiji this week. We were based in Denerau and got picked up and transferred to Sigatoka. It was great to see a different part of Fiji not connected with Denerau - the "real Fiji". After signing in and collecting a sarong for myself (ladies are required to wear these in the local village" we boarded our jet boat for an awesome ride up the Sigatoka river. Captain Leps was very helpful, informative and entertaining. Happy to answer any questions that we had about the Fijian life. We arrived at our village and were welcomed by a traditional ceremony and had some kava. We then enjoed a lovely lunch - Fijian style - sitting on the floor. After lunch there was music and we danced with the locals. It was a wonderful experience and we felt very privelged to be sharing some time with the locals. We then left the village and proceeded back up the river to the jetty. Along the way Captain Leps did five 260 degrees spins in the boat which was awesome. We had our photos taken and were able to purchase these as a momento of the day. We then stopped back at Sigatoka Town to purchase some souvenirs. A wonderful day and truly a highlight of our Fijian holiday. I strongly recommend that you do this trip - it was awesome!!
