Cruise across Lake Whakatipu to Walter Peak High Country Farm. You will board the Spirit of Queenstown, a modern catamaran with a licensed bar where you can purchase a drink or 2 for your journey.

Once at the lakeside Colonel’s Homestead Restaurant savour the delicious aromas as our chef has the best of local produce sizzling away on the grill. The buffet includes salads, vegetables, fresh seafood and succulent local meats cooked on the wood-fired BBQ. There is a wide range of delicious desserts on offer, including a vast array of fresh bread and cheese. We also do cater to a wide variety of dietaries, all you have to do is give our friendly team a call or pop in to one of our visitor centres 24 hours beforehand so our talented chefs can whip you up a delectable meal.

Overlooking Lake Whakatipu and Queenstown's alpine scenery, the Colonel’s Homestead at Walter Peak is the perfect place to spend a few hours. Its colonial architecture and sweeping grounds evoke the elegance of a bygone era. An entertaining farm demonstration the whole family will enjoy is also included. If there is time remaining, explore the beautiful lakeside gardens before re-boarding the vessel for the return trip to Queenstown.

Great experience

We took the 5pm cruise, it was overcast so not a lot of visability but the boat trip (about 35 minutes) was pleasant, very difficult to hear the tour guide. Drinks were available to purchase on board. The buffet bbq was well above expectations. Amazing Looking venue. The show was informative and entertaining. Everything run on rime and very efficient.

Amazing trip

A must do activity in Queenstown, we went with the cruise / gourmet bbq. Stunning views from walter peak, bbq was great with many options. Walk around & farm introduction was very interesting learning about NZ history
