Fun for all the family

Couldn't ask for a better company to have done this with. From John our bus driver, who told us so much about what we were seeing on our trip from Sunshine Coast to Brisbane, to our amazing guides on Moreton Island. Although I was too chicken to sandboard my husband did and loved it. Was so much fun to watch. The 4 wheel drive bus to and from the Desert was fun. My highlights were kayaking in the clear kayak and snorkeling. Awesome day. Highly recommend !

Great day but bad start

A great day of adventure and all the tour guides were fantastic. However it could have been a disaster, we arrived before our departure time at Maroochydore pickup point but the driver didn't show. We called the after hours number several times, finally got hold of someone and told them we were still waiting to be picked up. 45 mins later and several follow up calls on our end and we were told we could go another day (the driver left early without even calling us) but we couldn't do another day. Long story short, at our request they organised an Uber and we arrived just in time to catch the ferry to Moreton Island. Phone staff we spoke to were not very helpful at all, we had to keep calling back to find out what was happening, but tour guides were fantastic. Make sure you ring and double check pickup time, the other party at our pickup point were told 5.30am and our email (online booking) said 5.45am. Bad miscommunication and very stressful start for us. But to their credit we made it and had a great day.

Disappointing experience

This tour is done with Sunset Safaris. It is mass tourism; a non-personalised tour where you will feel like a number on a list. Once we got to Moreton Island, we got split into groups and got a different tour guide for every activity. The groups were massive in size. It was all very rushed. The kayak lasted maybe 15min max (one loop around the wrecks), the tour guide spoke so silently nobody could hear anything. The see-through kayaks are not see-through at all, there are so many scratches on the plastic that it gives an opaque glass effect. The snorkeling was very short as well, and because the group was so big we spend more time fitting on our gear than actually being in the water. Lunch was a joke: because there were so many people, the ones at the end of the line almost didn't have anything left to eat. In the afternoon we went for the sandboarding (or better 'sliding of a sand dune with a wooden plank'). Nothing fun about it, just sand everywhere and an experience I hope to forget soon. Then we got rushed back to the beach for a quick swim to get the sand out of our eyes and ears (this was a 5 min swim) before having to get back on the ferry. We got ZERO beach time to enjoy Tangalooma beach. My tip: just book a passenger walk-on ticket for the ferry and bring your own snorkeling gear. 1/10th of the price but it will be 10x the fun.
