Worst surf lesson ever

Christine King said... What started out as a great and fun trip quickly turned sour at the start of our surf lesson. Our instructor Summer gave us no instruction, no pointers and no help to improve our surfing. She continued to say “you’re doing great” and “keep going” when we were not. We had to pry her to actually answer our questions and she honestly seemed to not give a shit at all about being there. Everyone in our group had surfed before and at the beginning of the lesson it looked like none of us had. The only saving grace was the lovely ladies in our group who banded together and decided to help each other out. I was getting more helpful information and tips from the other beginners in the lesson while the instructor stood there and did nothing. I’ve taken lessons all over the world and this was by far the absolute WORST instructor. For the money we paid to get instruction, I wish we’d just rented, because it’s basically what we did anyways. To make matters worse, I called the company to complain (not to get my money back) because the words that were used by fellow tour group members were “disappointed and upset” and no one should ever feel like that during a surf lesson. I spoke to someone higher up (I don’t remember his exact position) and he continued to undermine my experience, chuckle and belittle my comments and tried to invalidate my complaint and make me feel stupid. I had to yell at him at one point because he was scoffing into the phone when I was talking about my experience. I’ve never been so disrespected by a company when I had a valid reason to complain. It was only after I told him I didn’t want my money back that he started to listen to me. I think he got the point when I told him that my lesson could have ruined surfing for someone. We only had 4 people in the class and 3/4 of us were extremely dissatisfied, and then this phone call was just the icing on the cake. I’ve never called and complained about a tour in my life before and to get it thrown in my face was laughable. Spend your money somewhere else, don’t give it to a company that won’t teach you how to surf and be rude to you. Guess I just got the two for one special that day.
