BOI’s Best Sailing Trip

If you’re looking for a relaxed, well catered, sailing day out in the Bay of Islands look no further than the Gungah II. Or in our case perfect outing for a surprise birthday present! From Captain Mike’s wealth of knowledge about the marine life and ecosystem in the BOI to Lucy’s warm hospitality and superb hosting skills this will be a day you won’t soon forget. Two pods of dolphins, some blue fairy penguins, a hammerhead shark, and a couple of sting rays you’ll get the full Attenborough experience. A stop for a quick snorkel and hike on Moturoa’s eastern end was one of many possible adventures on this tour. Truly a magical experience we won’t ever forget!

Best thing to do in the Bay of Islands

We had the best time on board with the group and the team. Food was good and the day very relaxing with some nice highlights. Mike, the skipper, was awesome and told us many great stories of his adventures sailing around the world. We got to see some penguins and enjoyed amazing views. Totally recommend it for all ages. :)

Such a wonderful day out

Thank you Mike and Deb for such a great day out, it definitely is the best way to explore the bay. The boat is lovely and there's plenty of room to sit back and enjoy the views and learn more about sailing. Loved hearing Mike's tales of his travels around the world on a sailboat. The island we stopped at was incredible and we had the chance to snorkel and have a hot shower afterwards! Lunch and snacks were included and no one was left hungry or thirsty. Loved it! Wish you guys all the best x

Relaxed and beautiful

Very relaxed. We saw wildlife like blue penguins, bottle nosed dolphins around and under our boat and even a kiwi on a beautiful island where we stopped for a while! That is really rare. The crew is very friendly and experienced. The captain takes time to talk to everyone. You can lay on the deck and just enjoy the sun or look if you can spot wildlife. Lovely! Lunch and snacks are included. I would definitely recommend this when you are in the bay of islands! A must do!
