Epic day in the Bay of Islands!

We had the best day sailing with Vanessa and Rhonda on the Carino. We were really lucky to have a blue skies and sunshine day and the crew were fantastic at finding and telling us about the local wildlife! We saw heaps of dolphins and some little blue penguins. We really enjoyed their sustainable approach to this beautiful area and would thoroughly recommend this to anyone who is passionate about sustainable dolphins. We didn’t swim with the dolphins but the crew clearly explained that there are rules that regulate this (i.e. presence of babies, knowledge of dolphin behaviour) but we weren’t disappointed one bit. Lunch was ideal and $6 was very reasonable.

Dear AJ Thank you for the great feedback. The water temperature in the bay of islands is fantastic for swimming at present, and we are all loving it at lunchtime. Regards Carino Crew

They should change their name

When we came on the boat we understood very quickly that they are not ready to " swim with the dolphins". When we ask for the materials ( mask palms, combinaison) the staff rolled his eyes and said no ... The rest was perfect, we saw the dolphins but couldn't swim with them, we had a break in a beautiful island with an amazing point of vue and a yummy lunch. The captain was very nice and very kind. The day was amazing but just don't call it : swim with the dolphins if even you don't have gear for everybody...

Dear Madeline Thank you for your feedback, all comments are important to us. I am sorry if you did not receive the communication that you needed. We do have all the gear for swimming with dolphins. but we do not gear our guests up until we know that we are definitely going to put them in the water with the dolphins. We always give a dolphin swim briefing at the back of the boat and then gear our guest up with mask, snorkels and fins. I have spoken to the staff involved and for the future to be clear on what our procedures are. I am glad you still managed to enjoy the tour. regards Carino Crew

Very Nice Trip!

Had a very nice experience. There were lots and lots of dolphins. A bit cold to swim with them but on the whole a superb day with breath taking views and sceneries.

Great trip

Really good trip. Very relaxed. Even catered for my being a coeliac (gluten free) which was impressive. Saw dolphins. Whales and penguins. Great day but sadly didn't get to swim with dolphins as there were babies with them. I think it needs to be advertised that there's a small chance of swimming with them as naturally there are lots of reasons that the swimming can't go ahead.
