Andrea Ghersetti said... We had a fantastic day on Rottnest island, starting with an easy 10 minute walk to the wharf, on-time ferry service and smooth seas. The ferry had a small galley/cafe where we bought a cuppa from one of the crew and relaxed and enjoyed the skipper’s commentary on the Sean River, conditions, geography and local culture. Once we left Fremantle behind we saw a whale heading past, which was a bonus! Rottnest island was a great day out, starting with late breakfast at the cafe, a trip around the island on the hop-on-hop-off bus and a tour between two of the stops. Gorgeous beaches made us wish we’d brought a picnic lunch with us. Views back to Perth from the lighthouse (also toilets and coffee van) and then on the bus to the furthest point and the osprey nest. Back to the main settlement for a late lunch with quokkas rambling around (do not touch!) and a bit of souvenir shopping before heading back to the wharf and on our ferry back to Perth at dusk. All of the crew were cheerful and helpful, and we had a great day out. Worth doing.
