Definitely recommend this trip

If you can fit this trip in while you are in Queenstown it is a must do. It is a long day but worth every minute. We went as a family of four (two teenagers who don't love long bus trips but even they loved it!). Our driver Gabe was amazing right from the start when he told us where we could park our car for the day for free. He was a skilled driver, really informative and friendly. We had plenty of stops on the way into Milford for bathroom breaks, morning tea and great photo opportunities. It snowed as we were entering the Homer Tunnel, we saw Keas, amazing waterfalls and so much more. And then the sun came out and Milford Sound was picture perfect - the third time I've been there and the first time I've seen it that good :-) The cruise around the sound was fantastic. It was calm, very serene and just stunning everywhere you looked. The picnic lunch (paperbag style) was very tasty and included plenty of variety and nice treats. Our day couldn't have been any better. Thanks Southern Discoveries!

Absolutely Stunning

September 4, 2020 - This tour was awesome! You'll get the value of the money that you've paid for. Southern Discoveries were very accommodating to our requests and kept us updated even days before the trip noting the changing rules around the pandemic situation. The bus was comfy, it has a bathroom inside for those "emergency" pee but, we were not able to use it as there are stopovers with toilet. The driver/tour guide, Craig, was awesome, too! His sense of humour while still able to explain factual information about the scenic views along the way proved that he really knows what he is doing and made the tour more exciting and engaging at the same time. It was raining when we've reached the Milford Sound but that didn't made the view less scenic. It instead added up to the majestic beauty of Milford Sound. As Craig has described it, "absolutely stunning"! Just breathtaking! One for the book! PS. Can't attached some photos since I have not transferred it yet from my cam.

Long day but good experience

This was our second time to Milford Sound. Coach journey was intelligent choice as roads are extremely winding and dangerous. Very scenic journey if no rain. Our bus driver was a local. He was knowledgeable but speaks less. The boat was very large and modern. Food was very good (they said everything is halal when pork was also served !!). Not many water falls noted due to summer and no rain. Only thing I can ask to improve- bus becomes very hot due to glass roof (didn't see any need for glass roof!); some window curtain may help. It was a long day -almost 14 hours.

Average

Bus experience was A+, the cruise on the other hand was a good experience but the buffet experience was 0/10. Instructed to sit at a table, went there and 5 minutes later some Chinese tourists come and start yelling saying it’s reserved for them. We told them we got told to sit only on the left, they proceeded to call one of the staff which then said go sit somewhere else, my fiance’ and I were not taken to a seat, instead we had to sit apart for the duration of the buffet.
