An awesome caving experience for fun with friends and family - or a great place to make them!
Exciting, beautiful, challenging, but surprisingly gentle. This spectacular three-hour caving adventure comprises of abseiling (rappelling), zipping down the flying fox, walking and scrambling through the prettiest piece of known cave in New Zealand.
This trip suits a wide range of people - especially those not wanting to be too physical.
You'll encounter spectacular shafts to abseil down, some of the most awesome cave formations; stalagmites and stalactites and flowstone.
Waitomo Adventures are a consistent Certificate of Excellence Winner with Trip Advisor and are ranked the number 1 attraction in the area with a 5-star rating - Come and see for yourself why this is a must-do attraction in an experience that will remain with you forever
Awesome experience. Me and my boys loved it. Guides were very good and they included photos in the package. Nice small group
I would 100% recommend this tour! You start off meeting up at the office, then take a 15min drive to gear up and practice abseiling. Wear loose fitting pants, thick socks and a long sleeve top. You are then transported to the cave, where you enter via a 20m and 30m abseil. The cave is absolutely beautiful, with limestone formations that are older than you can comprehend. The guides are friendly and knowledgable, and happy to answer questionS. We stopped for a chocolate and cup of water, then went zip lining through a pitch black cavern. The guides took free photos for us ton download at the end of the trip. You spend a good 2hours underground. Worth every cent, do it!
I had the best time in Benedict's cavern. It was like being on another planet. The guides were amazing and made as feel safe the whole time. I can't wait to get back and take another trip with Waitomo Adventures. Bring on the next time.
My daughter who is 15 and I went on this tour. The cave highlights were very good and it was relatively easy. The only complaint I had was we were in a group of 6 and each one of us had to practice the ropes then each went down the hole twice then each did the flying fox...it just felt like you were waiting around half the time. Of course the practice is important, it would have been nice to have 2 instructors to speed up the process. I also didn't like the 'planned' pictures, it took more time and you felt like an idiot posing for the shot! That being said, the cave was very cool and the tour guides were knowledgeable and friendly. Thanks!
