Lake Taupo, one of the largest freshwater volcanic craters in the world, is home to the famous Maori Rock Carvings.
Only accessible by boat, we will get you the closest to these incredible 10 metre high carvings which tower high over New Zealand’s largest lake. Learn about the spiritual and cultural significance of the area from your skippers interesting and informative commentary.
With comfortable seating both inside and out, bathroom facilities and a licensed bar, we’ll ensure your cruise on the Ernest Kemp will be warm and comfortable. Your skipper even welcomes you to join him in the wheelhouse and take a turn at the wheel!
The Ernest Kemp cruise is an enjoyable outing and a great way to see the Maori Rock Carvings and to get out onto Lake Taupo.

Tolles Service, von der Buchung, über den Einstieg in das schöne Boot bis hin zur gemütlichen Fahrt mit reichlich interessanter Information, Keksen, heißem Tee/Kaffee und einer sehr netten und hilfreichen Bootsbegleitung. Genug Zeit und Gelegenheit, the Maori Roch Carvings zu fotografieren. Ich kann diese Tour nur wärmstens im Dampfschiffnachbau "Ernest Kemp" empfehlen!

Tolles Erlebnis
Ein wirklich beeindruckendes Erlebnis auf einem tollen Boot mit netter und zuvorkommender Mannschaft. Einziger kleiner Wermutstropfen: die Erläuterung des Skippers durch die Lautsprecher waren sehr schlecht zu verstehen.

Thank you for the feedback, Raphael. I can definitely ask for our skippers to speak a touch slower to help with our guests understanding where English might be a second language. This feedback is very helpful to our operation, so thank you :) We also carry onboard a most informative pamphlet (composed by the Master Carver himself, Matahi Brightwell) which is available for all guests to take home with them. Relaxing cruise
Leider konnten wir an diesem Tag nicht mit dem alten Dampfer fahren, aber die Tour mit der modernen Yacht war nicht minder schön. Sich die Sonne ins Gesicht scheinen und den Wind um die Ohren wehen lassen bei netten Erklärungen zum See und seinen Sehenswürdigkeiten hatte etwas Entspannendes.
