Arriving at the Visitor Centre your adventure begins with a short ferry ride across the lake to the geothermal field at Orakei Korako.
Enjoy a leisurely walk at your own pace, taking your time to snap some amazing photos of this impressive landscape.
Get close up views of boiling acid and mud pools, geysers and colourful silica terraces from the safety of the boardwalk trail.
Orakei Korako's most unique attraction is New Zealand's only geothermal cave - Ruatapu Cave (Sacred Hole) which extends down 35m to a crystal clear acid pool. Our viewing platform allows safe viewing of this most unique feature as access inside is prohibited.
Once you have finished your walk the ferry will transport you back to the visitor centre where you can purchase refreshments from MudCake Café (weekends only) or peruse the Souvenir Shop.

Superbe, varié et complet !
Ma deuxième visite de ce lieu, je ne m’en lasse pas ! Cette fois mes parents m’accompagnaient et ils ont été ravi de découvrir cette endroit atypique. La promenade est plaisante et variée, et le parc offre de multiples formations spectaculaires pour se rendre compte de l’activité geothermale intense de la région. Le personnel est charmant et le café offre également de bon produit. Le petit plus : la navette fluviale pour traverser la rivière, toujours sympa !

Une expérience riche en découvertes !
Une promenade dans un espace géothermique qui émerveille les sens. Le staff est au top, Wi-Fi disponible gratuitement, aussi que la possibilité de rester sur le parking dans un camping-car "self-contained" la nuit avant ou après la visite.

While Waiotapu is bigger and has the famous champagne pool, this is worth 20$. You'll be done in an hour but it is still quite exciting and colourful experience. I've been to both & enjoyed both :)

Magnifique site
Il n'y a pas que Rotorua pour voir les spectacles de la nature. A Orakei Korako vous avez en plus l'accès au site en bateau. C'est très bien aménagé et magnifique.
