Jan said... I was initially disappointed, as I hadn't realised that this was not the regular Glowworm tour on the boat, up at the main caves. However, it soon turned arouns, as we embarked on our small, almost private tour (only 6-8 people attending, plus the guide) We headed out to a privately owned cave. Walking through some woodland & through a Tea-house, which we visit after the tour, we descended a number of steps (you need to be fairly agile - there were a couple of us who struggled with the steps on the way back up). The guide was excellent & certainly knew her stuff. She was very informative & we saw some great cave features, including underground streams & of course glowworms. Heading back, we stopped in the Tea-house & were privelaged to taste Kawakawa tea, which was lovely. A nice change to the hoards of tourists on the usual crammed boat trip
