The Lake Mahinapua Hotel is a local institution, bringing together West Coast history and creative talent.
Take a seat in one of their Jade carving classes and learn to carve your own piece of New Zealand, with New Zealand Jade. Also known as Greenstone or Pounamu, Jade is a highly valued rock found in Southern New Zealand and has had multiple uses for generations in Maori history.
No experience with jewellery or machinery is required, the friendly local staff will pass on all their knowledge as it has been passed on to them.
Situated 12km South of Hokitika on a beautiful surrounding of native bush, lakes, beach and mountains, there’s no better place to take in some New Zeland history and take a little home with you.
Price: $40 Per Person
Duration: Between 1/2 an Hour to 1 Hour

Tolles Mitbringsel
Ein sehr schönes Erlebnis! Der Preis ist super. Möchte man schwierigere Formen machen, sollte man einen anderen Kurs nehmen. Der wäre dann aber auch teurer und länger. Wenn man nur etwas kleines aber selbstgemachtes und authentisches mit nach Hause bringen möchte, ist dieser Kurs perfekt. Tolle Erfahrung! Außerdem merkt man bei Tony, dass es ihm Freude macht.

Es ging alles ziemlich schnell und ohne große Erklärungen. Das fand ich etwas schade. Uns wurde gleich gesagt was nicht geht, dann Stein aussuchen, ein bisschen schleifen und polieren und das war's...

Schöne Aktion mit tollem Ergebnis
Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen. Der Kurs findet in einer sehr entspannten Atmosphäre statt. Wir waren sogar nur zu zweit. Man kann sich viel Zeit lassen und fühlt sich nicht unter Druck gesetzt. Es ist ein tolles Gefühl dann seine eigene Kette mit nach Hause zu nehmen.

Man hat die Möglichkeit ein Stück Neuseeland mit nachhause zunehmen. Viele verschiedene Formen sind möglich und dir wird gut geholfen. Du darfst dir dein eigenen Stein aussuchen und auch die schlussendliche Form. Wenn du einen 2. Stein bearbeiten willst kostet es nur 20$.
