Flexitime flyer membership terms and conditions

The following terms and conditions are important and affect your rights as a Member of the Air New Zealand Flexitime flyer programme.

They form part of your Membership agreement, and you should read them carefully.


The Flexitime flyer programme is a membership programme offered by Air New Zealand to New Zealand residents who are Airpoints Members.

By submitting a Flexitime flyer programme application, you agree to these Terms and the Air New Zealand Airpoints™ terms & conditions, which govern your Membership and the Benefits.

Applications for Flexitime flyer memberships can only be registered online.

Upon payment of the Fee, we will issue you with a receipt by email. The Fee paid for your Membership is non-refundable.


A Member may purchase any flexitime fare on a Qualifying Flight for the price of a seat only fare on the same Qualifying Flight. Any flexitime fare purchased through the Flexitime flyer programme will be subject to the flexitime fare rules, available here. flexidate fares and seat+bag fares are sold separately and do not form part of the Flexitime flyer programme.

Membership will be activated on the Date of Purchase and will remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from and including the Date of Purchase.

There is a limit of one adult passenger per booking under the Flexitime flyer programme. This means that a separate booking will need to be made for any adult, Infant or Child passengers who may be travelling with you (even if they are also a Member).

Qualifying Flights booked within the Membership Term will be eligible for the Benefits. Qualifying Flights booked within the Membership Term may be commenced and completed outside the Membership Term.

Membership is personal to the Member and is not transferable to any other person. Membership cannot be sold, transferred or assigned to anyone else nor used to purchase flights for persons other than the Member. Membership to the Flexitime flyer programme cannot be purchased as a gift for another person.

The Flexitime flyer programme is available online only. The Benefits are only valid on Qualifying Flights booked in the name of the Member. When booking Qualifying Flights, you must log in to your myairnz account via www.myairnz.co.nz or www.airnewzealand.co.nz before booking the Qualifying Flights. Your Benefits will only be applied if you are logged in to your myairnz account when booking your Qualifying Flights. Any disputes relating to the use of any personal information provided by you to a third party are not the responsibility of Air New Zealand. Air New Zealand has no liability for any misuse (fraudulent or otherwise) of any personal information you choose to provide to a third party relating to your Airpoints account.

Standard fees or charges payable in connection with a Qualifying Flight or flexitime fare or to any other products or services offered by Air New Zealand or its partners will continue to apply.

Benefits cannot be combined or used in conjunction with any other discount or promo code offer.

You may be required to provide identification prior to or at the time of boarding in order for us to verify that the person travelling is the Member. Without limiting any of our rights or remedies, if someone else presents a Ticket issued in your name for travel and we discover that that person is not you, we will refuse to carry that person.

The Fee may be subject to change.

Cancellations and changes to a flexitime fare are subject to the flexitime fare rules, available here.

Cancellations or changes made through the Contact Centre may be subject to additional fees. 

We collect personal information about you when you apply to join the Flexitime flyer programme and when you become a Member and use any of the services provided to you under the Flexitime flyer programme. Personal information includes your name, Airpoints number, travel details and/or purchases of goods and/or services. If you do not provide us with this information then we may not be able to provide any services that you have requested.

We may use the personal information we collect:

  • To process any communications you request
  • To administer the Flexitime Flyer Programme
  • To facilitate your participation in the Flexitime Flyer Programme
  • To conduct surveys and internal research
  • To comply with laws and regulations in applicable jurisdictions
  • To identify and present offers from us or form third parties that may be of interest to you
  • Facilitating security checks
  • Any other use that you authorise

We may share your personal information with third parties (such as data processing or market research organisations, or government agencies) for any of the purposes described here. We will require these third parties to strictly comply with our instructions and not use the information for any other purpose. We will not disclose your personal information to any other third party without your consent.

Without limiting the foregoing Terms in anyway, by providing us with an electronic mailing address or postal address, you authorise us to send Flexitime flyer programme communications, surveys, special offers, product updates to you using that electronic mailing address, or postal address (as applicable). The collection, storage and use of your personal information is subject to Air New Zealand's privacy statement which can be viewed at www.airnewzealand.co.nz and is also subject to all applicable laws including the Privacy Act 1993 (New Zealand). You have the right to access your personal information recorded by us and have it updated or corrected as necessary.

Without limiting any of our rights or remedies, if you breach these Terms, or in the exercise of our reasonable discretion, we decide or establish that you have used your Membership improperly or fraudulently, you'll be subject to appropriate administrative and/or legal action by Air New Zealand that includes, but is not limited to, termination or suspension of your Membership, and cancellation of any unused flights purchased under the Flexitime flyer programme, without compensation to you. We may also take action to recover the monetary value of any Benefit obtained improperly or fraudulently and any legal fees (on a solicitor/client basis) and/or other costs which we may incur in recovering amounts you owe.

Air New Zealand reserves the right, at its discretion, to modify, suspend, withdraw or terminate the whole or any part of the Flexitime flyer programme at any time, including (without limitation) if for any reason the Flexitime flyer programme is interfered with or disrupted in any way (including, but not limited to, by power shortages or failures, natural disasters, acts of God, civil disturbance, strikes, terrorist activities or war, computer bugs or viruses, tampering or technical failures). Where the Flexitime flyer programme is withdrawn or terminated during your Membership Term, you will be notified and Air New Zealand will elect in its absolute discretion to either: (i) allow the Membership Term (and the corresponding Benefits) continue to its expiry; or (ii) to provide a pro rata refund of the Fee, calculated on the number of days remaining in the Membership Term.  You will not be entitled to a refund if your Membership is terminated as a result of you breaching these Terms. Other than as described in this clause and to the extent permitted by law, we will not be liable to you for any modification, suspension, withdrawal or termination of the Flexitime flyer programme or of these Terms.

Air New Zealand reserves the right to amend these Terms at any time, in its sole discretion. Any amendments to these Terms will be effective immediately upon posting on our website. You'll be deemed to have accepted any such amendment if, after we have given this notice, you use your Membership.

Qualifying Flights may be seasonal and are subject to change without notice at any time.

In addition to these Terms, the Air New Zealand Airpoints™ terms & conditions and the Flexitime fare rules apply. All travel purchased is subject to Air New Zealand's Conditions of Carriage.

If you acquire or hold yourself out as acquiring for the purposes of a business any services to which these Terms apply, the provisions of the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (New Zealand) shall not apply to our supply of such services.

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New Zealand and any dispute arising with your use of or participation in the Flexitime flyer programme is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.

The terms used in these Terms have the following meanings:

"Air New Zealand", "we", "our" and "us" means Air New Zealand Limited.

"Air New Zealand Link" means Mount Cook Airline Limited (excluding Mount Cook Airline Scenic Flights), Air Nelson Limited and Eagle Airways Limited.

"Air New Zealand Operated Services" is a journey taken only on a Flight and Flight number that is ticketed and operated by Air New Zealand and /or Air New Zealand Link.

"Benefits" means the benefits available to Members.

"Child" is a person between the age of two and twelve years old (inclusive).

"Date of Purchase" is the date you purchase the Membership.

"Fee" means the price paid for the Membership and is inclusive of GST.

"flexidate fare" means an Air New Zealand domestic flexidate fare, subject to the flexidate fare rules available here.

"flexitime fare" means an Air New Zealand domestic flexitime fare, subject to the flexitime fare rules available here.

"Flexitime flyer programme" means the programme operated by Air New Zealand allowing a Member to purchase a flexitime fare for the price of a seat fare on a Qualifying Flight.

"grabaseat fares" means any fares offered by Air New Zealand on the grabaseat website www.grabaseat.co.nz.

"Infant" is a person less than two years old.

"Member", "you" and "yours" means the person who has purchased a Membership and whose name is recorded by Air New Zealand as the designated Flexitime Flyer.

"Membership" means an annual Flexitime Flyer membership.

"Membership Term" means a twelve (12) month period, commencing on the Date of Purchase.

"Non-Qualifying Fares & Tickets" means Tickets issued for charter flights; travel industry-rebated Tickets; Tickets acquired at auction; discounted Tickets or fares subject to another promo code; Tickets not issued in your name (even if paid for by you); or any other Tickets that we may specify from time to time.

"Qualifying Flight" is defined as a New Zealand domestic Flight on an Air New Zealand Operated Service that originates from and departs to an Airport within New Zealand and offers Flexitime fares, including, for the avoidance of doubt, Flexitime fares that are grabaseat Fares. Qualifying Flights do not include domestic Flight sectors that are booked as part of an international journey nor travel or Non-Qualifying Fares & Tickets.

"seat only fare” means an Air New Zealand domestic seat fare, subject to the seat fare rules available here.

"seat+bag fare" means an Air New Zealand domestic seat+bag fare, subject to the seat+bag fare rules available here.

"Terms" means these terms and conditions, between Air New Zealand and each Member, as amended or replaced from time to time at the sole discretion of Air New Zealand.

"Ticket" is the flight coupon(s) that entitles a passenger to be carried on a specified air service, and it includes electronic ticket receipt(s) that identify carriage on a specified air service.
