Touch of Gold benefits
The Touch of Gold promotion has now closed for new applicants.
Updated November 2021
With recent trans-Tasman travel restrictions, we have further extended the travel period for our Touch of Gold Members to reach 100 Status Points on Air New Zealand travel. This has been extended from the original four-month period, to give our Touch of Gold Members an extended period to enjoy their Touch of Gold benefits and earn towards upgrading to Gold.
How do I enjoy my benefits for even longer?
We have now extended the review date of your account to 30 June 2022 to earn 100 Status Points through Air New Zealand travel. If you have, you'll keep your Gold Membership active for the following 8 months.
Once you receive the upgrade to Gold, you'll have two Recognition Upgrades added to your account to give you an extra Touch of Gold.
To find out how to check potential Airpoints Dollars and Status Point earnings you can check online for Australian based members or Airpoints Calculator for New Zealand based members.
If you haven't earned 100 Status Points through eligible Air New Zealand travel at the end of the period, your account will be returned to the status that you held prior to the Touch of Gold trial period.
Your Membership card is at your fingertips
We won't be sending you a new physical card or membership pack, but you can still make sure you've always got your card on you by downloading the Digital Airpoints Card located in the Air NZ Mobile app.
How do I earn Status Points?
Make sure you always add your Airpoints number to your bookings or book your travel by logging into your Airpoints account first. This way we can make sure your Airpoints Number is in your booking and you'll earn your Status Points and Airpoints Dollars on eligible flights.
Touch of Gold benefits:
Designed to make your whole travel experience as seamless and comfortable as possible, you'll continue to receive the following travel benefits as a Touch of Gold member until 30 June 2022.

Extra Gold benefits
No Airpoints Dollars expiry: Your Airpoints Dollars won't expire while you retain Gold status. If you move below Gold, you will have until your next anniversary of joining to use any Airpoints Dollars that were due to expire. If your next anniversary falls within two months of you moving below Gold, you will have a full two months to use your expiring points.
Extra gift recipients: You are able to nominate an additional two people to join your gifting register who do not share the same address as you. This benefit is in addition to those who share the same address as you - your household giftees.
To register your household and non-household giftees sign in to your Air New Zealand account and choose Gifting Register under My Profile.
