Our alliance with United covers flights between New Zealand and mainland USA, including feeder flights within New Zealand and the US. The alliance is part of our strong Pacific Rim partner network, which includes Virgin Australia, Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines and Air China.
For our customers, it means easy access to more flights and more destinations.
Air New Zealand operates a daily service between Auckland and San Francisco, twice-daily services between Auckland and Los Angeles, and five services a week between Auckland and Houston. This increases to daily flights during the December/January peak period.
United operates a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner service three time a week between San Francisco and Auckland. From November 2016, this will increase to daily services operated by larger 777-200 aircraft.
Air New Zealand and United are Star Alliance members, so customers enjoy reciprocal frequent flyer benefits, such as earning and spending loyalty points. Star Alliance Gold members (Airpoints™ Elite and Gold) also receive frequent flyer benefits, such as lounge access and priority handling at the airport.
For Airpoints™ information, please see travel benefits with United.
Seat select is not available whilst booking a United operated flight on the Air New Zealand website, however once your ticket has been confirmed you will receive a notification from Air New Zealand that will enable you to click through to the United website and select your seat.
With codeshare flights this is simple. The allowance of the airline you buy your ticket from applies.
For information on meals, entertainment, special assistance, travelling with children or infants, or children travelling alone, please contact the operating airline.
