Outstanding 14-year-old Australian violin prodigy Christian Li makes his NZ debut.

Conductor Alan Buribayev

Violin Christian Li

Fauré Pelléas et Mélisande: Suite

Saint-Saëns Introduction and Rondo capriccioso

Ravel Tzigane

Mussorgsky Night on the Bare Mountain

Borodin Symphony No.2

The astonishing, young violinist Christian Li signed a recording contract with the prestigious Decca label two years ago. He was 12 at the time. When he plays these showstoppers by Saint-Saëns and Ravel, you’ll understand why. To say his musicality is beyond his years is an understatement.

The second half of the concert features Mussorgsky’s gleefully diabolical picture of a Black Sabbath and Borodin’s whirlwind symphony, a splendid wash of Russian colour and spectacle.
