Join Walking by Nature as they embark on their signature walk through the breathtaking Headlands of Matiatia and Church Bay on the lush Waiheke Island.
We begin your trip back to nature by greeting you as soon as you step off the ferry on Waiheke Island where you’ll immediately be drawn in by the gorgeous scenery and stunning coastal environment.
We’ll walk the beautiful Headland track around the Matiatia Headland and past Owhanake Bay, uncovering unforgettable sights of this treasured location.
On our way around the Matiatia headland, enjoy stunning vistas of the Hauraki Gulf Islands, Great Barrier Island and the Coromandel; spot sea birds, native plants and, if you’re lucky, orcas or dolphins! Along the way you’ll learn about the fascinating history and ecology of the Hauraki Gulf and Waiheke Island, its conservation projects and island life.
After lunch we walk the Te Pio Rehiti Reserve and around the Church Bay headland through an amazing sculpture park and a stunning bush reserve. An unforgettable way to experience this luscious and awe-inspiring New Zealand landmark.
Departure time & location: Catch the 9am Fullers ferry from downtown Auckland (sailing is approximately 35 minutes) and meet at Matiatia ferry dock at 10am. The walk ends in time to catch the 4pm ferry back to Auckland CBD.
