Tim said... What started off as an idyllic adventure turned into a terrifying experience. Never thought I would end up with a burst fractured of the L1 vertebrae & a week in the Whangarei Hospital. The incident happened on our return to Sandspit Wharf in high winds and rough waters. We were motoring fast. When asked to slow down, Kurt replied that it wouldn’t make a difference and he continued at top speed. The physical damage I suffered was the result of the boat launching off the crest of a wave, lifting me out of my seat and suspending me in mid-air. I landed with such force on my tailbone you could hear the sound of the vertebra fracturing. I emailed Bookme requesting a refund due to the experience and out of pocket expenses (cab: $300 to get car in Sandspit + overnight hotel $125). Kurt’s response to Bookme was “No refund”.
