Spectacular

The most perfect day to experience this beautiful valley. Stunningly created lookout points. Wide and safe pathways. Plenty of seating to rest, admire the surroundings and just chat with fellow walkers. Rubbish facilities throughout. Immaculate toilet facilities. Super pleasant staff. Fantastic to have the bus service back if you didn't want to return on foot. Totally recommend this experience. Thankyou.

Thank you for reviving my mind, body and soul!

I am a local (eastern Bay of Plenty) who had driven past Waimangu Valley many times, but never stopped off - thinking it more a "tourist destination". Well - how wrong I was! This experience is a must do regardless of where you're from. A group of us from The Outdoor Connection visited yesterday and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Beautiful, friendly, helpful staff. Exceptionally well-constructed and well-maintained tracks and toilet facilities. A magical, vibrant, nourishing environment that took my breath away! I hope that many more locals (and visitors) support this operation, because it's world class.

Unforgettable, raw, and breathtaking.

Waimangu is one of those rare places that leaves you completely awestruck not just by its natural beauty, but by its sense of mystery and ancient power. Walking through this geothermal valley feels like stepping into another world, where the earth is very much alive beneath your feet. From steaming crater lakes to bubbling springs, lush native bush, and panoramic views that stop you in your tracks every turn on the trail is a surprise. The highlight for me was Frying Pan Lake, the world’s largest hot spring, it’s surreal to see steam rising off a lake surrounded by birdsong and greenery. The walking tracks are really well laid out, and you can choose the level of walk that suits your energy. There’s also a shuttle if you want to skip the uphill climb at the end. The staff were so friendly and informative you can feel how much they care about this incredible ecosystem. If you’re in Rotorua or nearby, this is an absolute must-do. It’s peaceful, powerful, and humbling, a living reminder of how dynamic and sacred the land really is.

Natures Garden

We have been to Waimangu before and love it so much it was a definite on our to do list this holiday. The history and natural beauty of the place is amazing. I would highly recommend going on the boat cruise around the lake. Our skipper Ryan was fantastic. He knows the history of the place and people well and could answer all our questions. The views from the lake can’t be matched. Definitely recommend 👍
