Our small group tours give you the opportunity to view the remote Catlins Coast. You'll observe not only diverse and dramatic scenery but unique wildlife that call this place home.
As the sun goes up and the early morning paddle crosses the seascape, you’ll feel like the only person on the ocean, indeed a unique and authentic experience. As we head towards the breath-taking rock formations, locally known as ‘The Nuggets’, your knowledgeable guide will search for interesting and endangered wildlife to observe. The curious but playful fur seal could swim over to say hello. You may catch a glimpse of the yellow-eyed penguin or a visit from the albatross soaring in close searching for food. Once the sun is high in the sky, we’ll return to our historical launching bay.
Trail time is a two-hour experience
Paddle time is one/half hours.
Departure time is dependent on the season.
Departure between 5am and 7am. Return between 7am and 9am. This will be confirmed upon booking.
Do I have to be fit or have kayak abilities? This is a leisurely tour. Whilst the ability to swim is required, our kayaks are highly stable and suitable for first time paddlers.
Please note, you will need to make your own way to the departure location.
Jared was friendly and a great guide. It was great watching the sun come up. Seeing some seals play in the water and being told to get away by a sealion, who then proceeded to follow us making sure we left the sea lol. Be nice if they gave some coffee / biscuits after like I have had on other morning kayak tours, but none the less was a fantastic morning.
Very special experience! Jared is a good dude!
My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the tour. You can see that Jared really loves the sea and Kayaking around. Thanks again for the wonderful experience!
Jared was a phenomenal guide and instructor. While a few of us decided to swim around instead of paddle out, Jared maintained our safety and gave amazing tours of the Kaka Point coast with its wildlife. Jared communicated well both before the tour and during the tour (we could actually hear him above the wind and surf). Definitely will bring my more athletic friends to join. If you are non-standard size, do let Jared know ahead of time.

Amazing experience watching the sun rise on a cold, frosty, clear morning. The guide was excellent.
