New Zealand is home to some of the best fly fishing locations in the world - the Mataura River, in particular, being renowned as a wild brown trout dry fish destination and known for its mayfly hatches which hatch all season long.

You'll get to spend the day exploring the rivers and streams in beautiful Southland alongside a local expert who has been fly fishing for trout all his life and knows it like the back of his hand! Learn how to stalk, see, approach, cast to the fish, and catch and release them. For a good part of the day you will cast dry flies and emergers to rising fish during the mayfly hatch, or target sighted fish in the runs, pools, and riffles.

Without a doubt, catching trout in the Southland rivers can be difficult for both newcomer and experienced anglers, but you can gain the skills, learn the techniques and soak up knowledge to help you successfully fish anywhere in NZ with this epic full day fly fishing experience!

Please Note: A NZ fishing license must be purchased for the day to participate. This can be purchased online at www.fishandgame.org.nz, or locally at certain retailers.
