Welcome to the Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary! Nestled in the picturesque coastal region of Port Stephens, NSW, our 8ha sanctuary offers a unique opportunity to connect with Australia's beloved koalas in a pristine natural environment.

Port Stephens Council in partnership with Port Stephens Koalas Hospital have created a Koala Sanctuary to ensure first-class care to sick, injured and orphaned koalas. Opened daily, the Koala Sanctuary offers visitors a unique opportunity to see koalas in their natural habitat.

Explore the captivating 250-metre Sanctuary Story Walk, featuring large-scale sculptures and informative displays, and you'll discover "Kasey's Tale," an engaging story about koalas and their journey from being rescued, recovering and eventually being released back to the wild. This experience extends further with the Sanctuary SKYwalk and Viewing Platform, measuring 225 metre in length, providing an up-close encounter with koalas in their natural habitat.

Don't miss the chance to glimpse behind the scenes and take a look through the Port Stephens Koala Hospital viewing window as veterinary staff carry out examinations and administer treatment* to koala inpatients. Please note, access inside the hospital is not possible.

After you have experienced the attractions of the Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary, finish off with a visit to Fat Possum Cafe that offers a range of hot food & barista made coffees all served in a tranquil bushland setting.
