We had an excellent time at Sydney Aquarium - we went with our son who is 2.5 years Old and he absolutely loved every second. The only criticism is that there were no drinking vending machines or a place to buy a cold drink and it was quite a hot day.
Good discount and aquarium, however the basins were quite small for all of the animals and especially sharks. There were also lots of people inside so we had to wait for quite a long time. Though it was really cool to see these fish, sharks, penguins and rays - very impressive and massive!
I was disappointed with the Sydney Aquarium experience. It started with the check-in experience. There are now 3 Merlin Entertainment business units all using the same check-in facility. From a resources perspective, this may help the bottom line but from a customer experience perspective, check-in fell well short. This is not my first time visiting Sydney Aquarium, 3rd from memory. The water was not clear and the once painted rock formation to resemble coral which added colour are no more, it's just grey rock. I hired a room for a couple of functions in the Greater Barrier Reef section and the product experience was simply outstanding. I visited the same location (it's the last underwater viewing area prior to exisiting) and it was a fraction of it's former self, very sad.
