Jump on board a tour to Phillip Island and get up close and personal with an array of Aussie wildlife! Check out the awesome coastline of Phillip Island and then witness one of Australia’s most spectacular wildlife experiences as hundreds of the world’s smallest penguins waddle ashore. You’ll also get to hand-feed kangaroos, get up close to koalas and spot Fur Seals on the rugged rocky coastline of the Victorian Island

We escape the concrete jungle of Melbourne and begin our day at a wildlife park where you will have the pleasure of meeting some furry Australian favourites. We will also stop here and have lunch (own expense).

We move on to tour the length of Phillip Island, known for its sandy beaches, rugged cliffs and unique wildlife experiences. Be awed by the giant surf at Woolamai beach and the rugged coastline of Cape Woolamai as we stop to enjoy some afternoon tea in Cowes. During the summer months, we take this opportunity to cool off with a visit to the beach.

At the Western tip of the island there is a majestic rocky coast, home to a colony of fur seals. We wander along the boardwalk checking penguin burrows for life and then we're on to the penguin parade. Check out the award-winning Visitors Centre and as the sun drops, witness the world`s littlest penguins emerge from the sea and waddle ashore. This is a truly magical experience.

Fantastic day!!!!

It was one the best tours we have had on our trip to Australia. Troy our guide/driver was so good and friendly, he was so knowledgeable and gave us good tips where to sit in penguin parade. All in all a must go trip specially for families.

Penguin parade, koala and wildlife experience

Ash our guide was very knowledgeable and had a variety of story’s to tell us about the area, despite the rain he managed to entertain us for the entire journey, the penguin parade is amazing to watch and left me mesmerised I would definitely go back to see this again, the koala and wildlife park was a little bit of a let down due to small paddocks but it was lovely to walk amongst the kangaroos and wallaby’s. Ash took us to a number of beach locations which were lovely to see but would have been more enjoyable if not in the rain.

Up close

Up close and personal with the penguins, great for families but even on a weekday in summer the venue is crowded

Nor exactly as advertized

Some of the advertized activities/stops were not actually implemented during the tour: - no fur seals spotting - not the slightest mention of ancient volcanoes Another big disappointment: the use of cameras was prohibited during the penguins parade. This was surprising as our guide/driver had told us just to turn off the flash on our cameras/cells. If this is the rule, it should be acknowledged up front. - the stop at the Maru Animal Park was another disappointment as this place is so clearly more interested in cashing in on tourism than in taking care of their animals. What you get to see up close are animals looking trapped and stressed out. The one thing that was exciting was the spotting of kangaroos in the wild along the road. We did get good sightings.

Dear Moune, Thank you for your review! We are sorry to hear we did not meet your expectations this time. The Penguin Parade is a very special event and we are very privileged to be able to see the little penguins in their natural habitat. We do not want to disturb them, just observe respectfully, due to which photographing is indeed prohibited. You can buy pictures of the penguins from the Nobby's centre, to bring home with you as a souvenir. Maru is a wildlife shelter and helps injured animals by providing them a thorough veterinary check, and caring for them until they have recovered enough to be able to make it in the wild again. I hope this info gives some insight for the day, and we wish you enjoyable travels in Australia!
