Supplier Diversity

Air New Zealand connects communities across Aotearoa and the world, supporting tourism and economic growth. Partnering with diverse New Zealand businesses is another way we can contribute to the prosperity of our country. This is why we have established a supplier diversity programme.

Our supplier diversity programme seeks to promote and increase the participation of diverse suppliers in our procurement process, and reflect the communities where we live, work and fly. We have an initial focus on Māori-owned and Pasifika-owned businesses, and social enterprises.

Our actions to support a diverse supplier base include:

Ka Rere – our diverse supplier accelerator programme

To support our work on supplier diversity, Air New Zealand is launching a diverse supplier accelerator programme, where we will partner with six small diverse businesses to take flight as part of two 12-week mentoring rounds during 2024.

The programme provides an opportunity for these businesses to access a range of skills, knowledge, and experience within Air New Zealand to support their growth ambitions. It also enables them to build their capabilities to bid for future opportunities to work with Air New Zealand.

The programme will start with us workshopping and agreeing how best to spend our 12 weeks together, as each business may have different ideas on how they want to use their time with Air New Zealand.

Examples of some of the opportunities participants of the programme will have:

  • Engage with our Procurement and Supply Chain teams about our tender process, what we're looking for when we assess bids, and what it takes to be an Air New Zealand supplier.
  • Engage with our Sustainability team about key issues we're looking to collaborate with suppliers on and ask for feedback on their sustainability plans or initiatives.
  • Engage with our Brand and Marketing team on marketing ideas for their business and tap into their experience and expertise.

Applications for the first mentoring round open 15 January 2024 and close 12 February 2024 at 5pm (see online form below). Three diverse businesses will be offered a place in each round.

Each round of applications will be open for one month, followed by a short-listing and interview process to select three diverse businesses to participate in each round.
