How to earn Airpoints Dollars™

Earn domestic, Tasman and Pacific Islands car rental, or globally at airport locations.

When you rent a vehicle from any Avis, Budget or Apex location in New Zealand and Australia, and from all Avis and Budget locations in the Pacific Islands.

Additionally, you can earn Airpoints Dollars™ from Avis and Budget from other countries worldwide when renting from an airport location (except in Alaska, USA).

Add your Airpoints™ number to an existing booking

Easily add your Airpoints number to your existing Avis, Budget or Apex rental car booking by following this simple step-by-step guide:

  1. Retrieve your booking here using your Surname and Confirmation Number as provided when you made the booking.
  2. Look for the 'Personal Information' section under the Reservation Details heading.
  3. Click 'Modify' (with the pencil icon).
  4. Add your Airpoints Number in the provided field.
  5. Ensure that the Renter Last Name provided on the booking is identical to that provided in the Airpoints profile. To verify this sign in here.
  6. Re-enter your email address.
  7. Click the 'Save' button.

Make sure your membership info matches

When making your car rental booking ensure that the Renter Name provided matches as it appears on the Airpoints membership profile. If these names do not match Airpoints Dollars will not be awarded.

Members can also show their Airpoints membership card when collecting the vehicle from Avis or Budget (Apex bookings can only be amended online through the process above). Find out more about Airpoints.

When Airpoints Dollars earn does not apply

Airpoints Dollars earn does not apply to bookings paid for with Airpoints Dollars, corporate rates, discounts or tour/travel industry rates unless otherwise specified.

Missing Airpoints Dollars

Airpoints Dollars earned through Avis, Budget or Apex are added to your account within six weeks of completing your car hire.

If you have not received your Airpoints Dollars and six weeks have passed since you completed your rental, please contact the partner directly using the information provided on your car rental confirmation email, and provide your rental agreement number, the renter name and renter Airpoints member number. Please note that any claims must be filed within six months of the date of vehicle return.
