Together we’ll take you to more of China
Our alliance with Air China means both services can be easily booked through either airline. Through the alliance, Air New Zealand customers also receive better access to Air China’s comprehensive domestic network.
Air New Zealand and Air China are Star Alliance members, so customers enjoy reciprocal frequent flyer benefits, such as earning and spending loyalty points and lounge access.
On services operated by Air China to Beijing, carry on baggage rules are different. Economy passengers can only take 1 x 5kg carry on bag and Business and all Airpoints Gold and Elite members 2 x 8kg carry on bags.
Check baggage is also different, Airpoints Gold and Elite members in economy 1 x 23kg. Elite partner and Koru members are not entitled to additional bags.
* Eligible for Airpoints Dollars except when purchased with Airpoints Dollars or grabaseat Greenlight fares. Eligible for Status Points except when purchased with Airpoints Dollars.
** Some seats have monitors stowed in the arm of their seat rather than the back of the seat in front of them. For safety reasons, these monitors must be stowed for taxi, take-off and landing. This means you can still listen to music during these times of the flights, but as your monitor needs to be stowed, you won't be able to watch a movie etc until crew advise your screen can be deployed.
