How does the OneSmart travel card work?

Request OneSmart
Eligible members can request a OneSmart online before you travel. Your card will be sent to the home address in your Airpoints profile. You will receive your OneSmart card within 3-4 weeks of your request.
If the option to request OneSmart is not available online, or you're travelling soon and need a card urgently, please call the OneSmart Customer Service Centre on 0800 787 555 or +64 9 377 8535 if you're overseas (charges may apply).

Activate OneSmart
Once you receive your card, activate it and set a PIN.
To activate a new card, you'll need two forms of identification.
If you're activating a replacement card, simply log in and follow the prompts, or call the OneSmart Customer Service Centre on 0800 787 555 or +64 9 377 8535 if you're overseas.

Manage your travel money
Load in NZD or lock in up to eight foreign currencies at a set exchange rate*, so that you can spend like a local wherever you go. Your funds will be available immediately if you load money with your debit card.~ Fees and limits apply.
You can withdraw local currency from any ATM where Mastercard is accepted. The first three international ATM withdrawals are free each month.
Transfer money or any leftover funds on your card into your bank account or to another OneSmart cardholder once you return home. There are no fees for card to card transfers.

Start spending & earning
OneSmart can be used online or in-store, wherever Mastercard is accepted.³ The card will automatically detect which country you are in when you spend.
You can also earn Airpoints Dollars whenever you spend². Collect 1 Airpoints Dollar for every NZD$100 spent overseas and every NZD$200 spent in New Zealand on eligible purchases.
The OneSmart app helps you to manage your travel money on the go. You can transfer between currencies, see your balance and view transactions. If you lose your card, you can temporarily suspend OneSmart via the app too.

¹When calculating your Airpoints Dollar earnings, if you spend in a foreign currency, the amount you spend will be converted into New Zealand dollars at the currency exchange rate prevailing at the time the amount is deducted from your OneSmart Card.
²Eligible purchases do not include money orders, traveller's cheques, gambling chips, flights purchased directly from Air New Zealand. You do not earn Airpoints Dollars when loading funds to your OneSmart Card, transferring funds to another currency balance or another member's OneSmart Card or when withdrawing funds from ATMs or cashing out your OneSmart Card balance. Purchases that are reversed, refunded or charged-back are also ineligible for points earn, in addition to fees incurred.
³Although the Mastercard acceptance mark may be displayed, OneSmart may not operate in some countries and geographical regions, due to restrictions. For more information please see the Product Disclosure Statement.
*Lock in your exchange rates means the exchange rate is locked in for the initial load only. The exchange rates for subsequent reloads will be set at the prevailing exchange rate at the time of the transaction.
