Airpoints™ Flexipay terms and conditions

1. Flexipay trial

  • Airpoints™ Flexipay ("Flexipay") is currently being trialled and offered to only a restricted selection of Airpoints members. The service is subject to change and further product releases are at Air New Zealand's discretion

2. Making a booking

  • Tickets purchased using Flexipay must be booked via the Air New Zealand website ( or the Air New Zealand contact centre
  • Flexipay must be paid with a combination of (a) Airpoints Dollars™; and (b) the remainder with an approved debit or credit card or via internet banking (Poli)
  • Flexipay bookings can only be made for other passengers when they are listed on the member's Gifting Register
  • An Airpoints for Business owner cannot redeem the Airpoints Dollars in their business account for a ticket using Flexipay

3. Flight eligibility

  • Payment using Flexipay is available for new flight bookings only, on all Air New Zealand marketed and operated flights, Air New Zealand codeshare Virgin Australia operated trans-Tasman and Australian domestic services, NZ codeshare United Airlines operated flights between Auckland and San Francisco (return) and NZ codeshare Cathay Pacific
  • Flexipay is only available for airfares over NZD $9.00

4. Minimum and maximum Airpoints Dollars required

  • There is a minimum of 20% and maximum of 90% applicable to the proportion of a Flexipay payment that can be paid for using Airpoints Dollars. These percentages are subject to change

5. Cost to use Flexipay

  • There is a cost to use Flexipay, in addition to the airfare, payable in Airpoints Dollars only. This amount is based on the route flown and is subject to change at any time

6. Earning Airpoints Dollars and Status Points

  • Air New Zealand and partner airline flight bookings paid for using Flexipay may entitle the passenger to earn both Airpoints Dollars and Status Points to their personal Airpoints account. Airpoints Dollars and Status Points will be earned at 20% of the standard earn rates that apply to Air New Zealand and Partner airline earn rates. 7. Booking changes and cancellations

  • Changes to Flexipay bookings and cancellations are only permitted via the Air New Zealand contact centre and cannot be made online

8. Refunds

  • A ticket paid for using Flexipay is defined as an Airpoints redemption ticket. If the ticket is eligible for a refund, the refund of the fare will be made to the original forms of payment and Airpoints Dollars will be applied first, and then the Flexipay cost. Any Airpoints Dollars and Status Points earned would also be reversed
  • The Flexipay cost is only refundable if the whole ticket is fully refundable. No partial or refunds of the Flexipay cost will be made once travel has commenced
