Status Rewards Terms and Conditions
Any terms not defined in these Status Rewards Terms and Conditions have the meaning given in the Air New Zealand Koru Terms and Conditions.
1. Overview
1.1 Status Rewards are benefits available to eligible Members when they reach specified Status Point thresholds within their current Membership Year.
1.2 Status Rewards are tier-specific, threshold-based, subject to qualifying flight requirements, and time-bound.
1.3 Status Rewards form part of the Koru Programme and are subject to the Air New Zealand Koru Terms and Conditions.
2. Eligibility
2.1 A Status Reward is unlocked when a Member earns the applicable number of Status Points (including the applicable minimum number of qualifying flight Status Points) required to reach a new, or retain their current, tier status.
2.2 For Members with Koru Silver or Koru Gold status, qualifying flight Status Points include Status Points earned on Air New Zealand operated flights, qualifying partner flights, eligible Star Alliance flights and Status Points Bonus.
2.3 For Members with Koru Platinum and Koru Black status, qualifying flight Status Points include Status Points earned on Air New Zealand operated flights, qualifying partner airline flights, and Status Points Bonus. Status Points earned through Star Alliance flights are not counted as qualifying flights Status Points for this Status Rewards benefit.
2.4 Status Rewards may only be unlocked within the Membership Year in which the applicable threshold is reached.
2.5 Gifted Tiers: Members holding a gifted Tier are not eligible to unlock or earn Status Rewards during the period in which the Gifted Tier applies. Acceptance of a Gifted Tier pauses the ability to earn Status Rewards associated with the Member’s underlying earned tier for the duration of the Gifted Tier.
2.6 Banked Year Limitation: A Member may receive no more than one Banked Year Status Reward per tier in a single Membership Year. If a Banked Year has already been earned in that Membership Year, it will not be made available again. For clarity, only one Koru Platinum Banked Year or Koru Black Banked Year may be earned per Membership Year.
3. Unlocking and Claiming
3.1 Once a Status Reward is unlocked, the Member will be notified through their Air New Zealand account, or another appropriate channel.
3.2 Status Rewards must be claimed within 12 months of being notified they have been awarded a Status Reward.
3.3 The order in which Status Rewards are claimed does not affect eligibility for other rewards.
3.4 Status Rewards are not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash unless expressly stated.
4. Validity and Expiry
4.1 Status Rewards awarded to Members with Koru Platinum and Koru Black status are valid for 12 months of being notified they have been awarded a Status Reward , unless otherwise stated.
4.2 Status Rewards awarded to Members with Koru Silver and Koru Gold status are issued directly to those Members’ Air NZ Account upon achieving the relevant threshold for a Status Reward .
4.3 A Status Reward will expire if:
a) It is not claimed within the relevant validity period;
b) The Member’s status is suspended or terminated; or
c) The Member breaches these Status Rewards Terms and Conditions or the Air New Zealand Koru Terms and Conditions.
4.4 Once expired, Status Rewards are unable to be re-instated.
5. Programme Interaction
5.1 Unlocking or claiming a Status Reward does not affect tier qualification or retention.
6. Changes and Discretion
6.1 Air New Zealand may amend Status Reward thresholds, change available rewards, limit quantities, suspend or withdraw any Status Reward, or vary these Status Reward Terms and Conditions at any time, subject to applicable law. Air NZ may amend or vary these Status Reward Terms and Conditions at any time in accordance with the Air New Zealand Koru Terms and Conditions.
6.2 All rewards are subject to availability and operational requirements and the Air New Zealand Koru Terms and Conditions.
