Changes to the Kiwibank Airpoints™ credit card programme

After more than a decade of helping Kiwis take off to destinations around the world, the Kiwibank Airpoints credit card partnership is coming to an end on 1 November 2025. This change will affect you if you currently hold an Air New Zealand Airpoints Platinum Visa card or Airpoints Low Fee Visa card with Kiwibank.

Kiwibank and Air New Zealand have been in partnership since 2013, rewarding Kiwibank customers who are also Airpoints members for their everyday spending. Together, we've helped customers earn millions of Airpoints Dollars™ and Status Points through their Kiwibank Airpoints credit cards, unlocking travel with Air New Zealand and a range of other rewards.

The Kiwibank Airpoints credit card partnership is coming to an end, but this doesn't mean the end of your journey with Airpoints.

You can continue to earn Airpoints Dollars with Airpoints earning credit cards offered by other partners and enjoy associated benefits.

What does this mean for my Airpoints Dollars™, Status Points, and other benefits?

Accumulated Airpoints Dollars

Any Airpoints Dollars you've previously earned will still be visible when you log in to the Air NZ app (see 'Airpoints' tab) or when you sign into your Airpoints account on the Air New Zealand website (see 'Your Benefits').

To ensure your Airpoints Dollars will not expire when your Kiwibank Airpoints credit card ends, take out a new Airpoints earning credit card. As long as you hold an active Airpoints earning credit card that offers Non-Expiry of Airpoints Dollars, your Airpoints Dollars will never expire. Otherwise, use your Airpoints Dollars to redeem rewards before they expire.

Accumulated Status Points

Any Status Points you've previously earned will still be visible when you log in to the Air NZ app (see 'Airpoints' tab) or when you sign into your Airpoints account on the Air New Zealand website (see 'Your Benefits'). Your Status Points will remain valid in line with our Airpoints terms and conditions.

If you fly frequently with us, you'll appreciate the added benefit of earning Air New Zealand Status Points on selected Airpoints earning credit cards. We offer a variety of Airpoints earning credit cards with Status Points offerings that allow you to upgrade and/or retain your tier at Silver, Gold or Elite within the Airpoints programme.

Overseas travel insurance

Airpoints Dollars top-up

You will still be able to use the Airpoints Dollars top-up function until 31 October 2025.

You will need to sign in to your Air New Zealand account and select 'My Balances', then select the 'Top up' tab and enter the amount you need and your Airpoints credit card details. Your Airpoints Dollars balance will be topped up instantly. 

There is a NZD $5 fee for topping up your balance. Purchases of Airpoints Dollars are non-refundable so double check your purchase before you confirm.

Choose an alternative Airpoints earning credit card

To prevent your existing Airpoints Dollars from expiring due on 31 October 2025, make sure you have an active Airpoints earning credit card to continue enjoying the non-expiry Airpoints Dollars benefit (on select credit cards).
